Salzburg creative students shine across Europe at the ADC*E Festival 2024

ADC Talent Award
ADC Talent Award

Salzburg (pts017/28.11.2024/12:05) - At this year's ADC*E Festival 2024 in Barcelona, students and recent graduates of the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences (FH Salzburg) were able to attract impressive attention. The talents from the Creative Technologies department achieved three silver and two bronze placings in the newly introduced ADCE Student Awards, which recognise Europe's best young creatives.

Out of more than 250 submissions from eleven countries, 87 projects were shortlisted - 16 of them from Austria.

Among the winners was Karen Kircher , who won silver in the Publication Design category with her projects "Junk(ies) ( https://creativclub.at/submission/karen-kircher-junkies/ )" and "Female Gaze Design ( https://creativclub.at/submission/karen-kircher-female-gaze-design-2/ )" . She also secured bronze in the Interactive category for "KNOB ( https://creativclub.at/submission/karen-kircher-fabian-heller-knob/ )". Team projects from Salzburg University of Applied Sciences also impressed: Timo Asch, Bastian Gasser and Florian Weger won silver in the Interactive category for "Prio ( https://creativclub.at/submission/fh-salzburg-gmbh-prio/ )", while the team led by Francesco Schmitz Zecchin won bronze in the Advertising category with "No Room ( https://www.no-room.xyz/ )".

'These successes confirm that our students can hold their own at an international level and that the quality of our creative training programmes is clearly visible,' says Hilmar Linder , Head of the Department of Creative Technologies at FH Salzburg ( https://www.fh-salzburg.ac.at/en/study/ct ).

Top position in the ADC university ranking

Another reason to celebrate: Salzburg University of Applied Sciences has been awarded first place in the ADC Creative Index, the university ranking of the German Art Directors Club (ADC). The index is based on the results of Germany's largest competition for young talent and helps to highlight the strengths of universities in the increasingly complex creative industry.

'We owe our top ranking in the ADC Creative Index to the outstanding successes of our students at the ADC Talent Award 2024, which took place in Hamburg in June. We are particularly proud of the Grand Prix for the Ethan Pope ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ls2B1oTmwI ) project, which was also honoured with a Golden Nail. Further golden nails went to our students in the categories of sound design/music and creative use of technology. We also received numerous silver and bronze nails,' says Hilmar Linder.

'We own creativity'. The Department of Creative Technologies at FH Salzburg (Salzburg University of Applied Sciences) focuses on creativity and the design of and with technology. The more than 500 students in the department work in a practical and project-oriented environment on interdisciplinary projects in the MultiMediaArt, MultiMediaTechnology, Human-Computer Interaction and Realtime Art & Visual Effects degree programmes, combining pioneering digital technologies with aesthetics and function. Graduates are sought-after experts in the creative and digital industries. www.fh-salzburg.ac.at/ct
