Montana Aerospace AG: Montana Aerospace achieves another sustainable milestone with solar projects in Romania

Reinach (pta010/08.01.2025/09:48) - The company's division Universal Alloy Corporation Europe powers a sustainable future with its flagship projects

Universal Alloy Corporation Europe (UAC Europe) is taking a major step toward sustainability by implementing three solar panel projects across its sites in Romania. These initiatives are set to generate 30 % of the electricity consumption required by UACE, marking a significant contribution to the company's environmental goals.

The first of these projects, located in Dumbrăvița, was recently inaugurated with a symbolic button press by Montana Aerospace Co-CEO Kai Arndt, UACE CEO Brian Weed, the Montana Aerospace Board of Directors, Co-Board President Michael Tojner and Project Coordinator Daniel Varzaru.

"At Montana Aerospace, we are committed to shaping a sustainable and self-sufficient future. Following the successful implementation of our first major solar energy project in Vietnam, this initiative in Romania marks the second large-scale renewable energy project within our group. These efforts underscore our dedication to reducing environmental impact, enhancing energy independence, and ensuring economic efficiency as we invest in the future of our planet and our business.", says Kai Arndt,
Co-CEO of Montana Aerospace.

The solar panel project is executed through a joint venture comprising Emsens Prod, Solar Eco System, and Romproiect Electro, with financial support from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) subsidy scheme. The project was made possible by an investment of EUR 3.8 million and a subsidy of EUR 1.5 million.

Key Facts About the Dumbrăvița Solar Project

* 5 MWp installed energy production capacity
* 7,149 MWh average annual electricity production
* 5,439 tons estimated annual CO2 reduction

Daniel Varzaru, Administrator & Development and Government Relations Director at UAC Europe, states: "The three solar projects in Romania are a key step in supporting the long-term competitiveness of Montana Aerospace, demonstrating commitment to its production sites while reducing the environmental footprint and enhancing operational resilience in Romania. We are particularly grateful for the Romanian Government's collaboration through the Ministry of Energy, which plays a vital role in facilitating sustainable development as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) – Component 6. Energy."

21,000 MWh power, 17,000 tons CO₂ savings by 2025
Two additional solar projects at the sites in Baia Mare and Satu Mare are currently under construction. Once all three projects have been completed, they will generate an average of more than 21,000 MWh of electricity per year from solar power and further enhance UACE's energy independence and sustainability profile. At the Romanian locations, nearly 17,000 tons of CO₂ will be reduced annually. While the Dumbrăvița installation is already operational, the projects in Baia Mare and Satu Mare are expected to be completed by early 2025.

With this investment in renewable energy, Montana Aerospace reinforces its commitment to reducing carbon emissions and contributing to a greener future.
